Richard Garfield: podcast appearances and interviews

Richard Channing Garfield, born on June 26, 1963, is an American mathematician, inventor, and game designer. He is renowned for creating Magic: The Gathering, which is widely considered the first collectible card game. Since its debut in 1993, Magic has achieved significant success and inspired numerous other games. Garfield has overseen the development and growth of Magic and has designed various other games, including MetaZoo, Keyforge, Netrunner, and the BattleTech Collectible Card Game. His portfolio also includes Vampire: The Eternal Struggle, Star Wars Trading Card Game, The Great Dalmuti, Artifact, and several board games such as RoboRally, King of Tokyo, and Bunny Kingdom. Additionally, he created a variation of the card game Hearts known as Complex Hearts. Garfield's passion for games originated from his experience playing Dungeons & Dragons, which influenced his approach to design by making Magic decks customizable, similar to roleplaying characters. Both Garfield and Magic are members of the Adventure Gaming Hall of Fame.
