Richard Donald Crenna was an American actor and television director born on November 30, 1926. He gained early success on radio in 1948 with the series Our Miss Brooks, co-starring alongside Eve Arden and Gale Gordon. Crenna transitioned to television, continuing the comedy on the small screen in 1952 and starring as Luke McCoy in the series The Real McCoys from 1957 to 1963. His career in film included roles in movies such as Made in Paris, The Sand Pebbles, Marooned, Breakheart Pass, The Evil, The Flamingo Kid, Summer Rental, and Sabrina. He received critical acclaim for his performance in the television movie The Rape of Richard Beck in 1985, winning the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. Crenna is also well known for his portrayal of Colonel Sam Trautman in the first three Rambo films, which were released between 1982 and 1988. Richard Crenna passed away on January 17, 2003.
