Rhys McClenaghan: podcast appearances and interviews

Rhys Joshua McClenaghan, born on July 21, 1999, is an artistic gymnast from Northern Ireland who competes internationally representing both Ireland and Northern Ireland. He is recognized as one of the leading pommel horse specialists of his generation. McClenaghan has achieved significant success in his sport, including winning the gold medal on the pommel horse at the 2024 Olympics, marking him as the first gymnast to win an Olympic medal for Ireland. He is also a double world champion on the pommel horse, securing gold in 2022 and 2023, and the first Irish gymnast to win a world championship gold. His accomplishments extend to being the first Irish gymnast to earn a world medal, having won bronze in 2019, and a three-time European champion in 2018, 2023, and 2024. Additionally, McClenaghan has won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games representing Northern Ireland. He made history as the first Irish gymnast to compete in a European final and to win a European medal. Notably, he is the only gymnast to have claimed the titles of Olympic, World, European, and Commonwealth champion on a single apparatus. In recognition of his achievements, he was named RTÉ's Sportsperson of the Year in 2023. Outside of gymnastics, McClenaghan, alongside dance partner Laura Nolan, won the eighth series of Dancing with the Stars in March 2025. He did not compete in any gymnastics events in 2025 due to injury.
