Ulysha Reneé Hall is an American police officer who has held prominent leadership roles in law enforcement. She served as the chief of police of the Dallas Police Department from 2017 through the end of 2020, becoming the first woman and first black woman to hold this position in Dallas. Prior to her tenure in Dallas, she was promoted to deputy chief of the Detroit Police Department in 2014, where she was recognized by the Detroit City Council for her loyalty, integrity, and professionalism. Hall grew up in Detroit; her father was a police officer with the Detroit Police Department but was murdered when she was six months old. She attended Grambling State University and the University of Detroit Mercy, leading to her own career as a police officer with the Detroit Police Department. Hall's leadership was noted for her disciplined approach and her ability to deliver results within law enforcement communities. She announced her resignation in September 2020, which was accepted by the Dallas city manager, with her departure taking effect at the end of that year. Currently, she is known for her upcoming role as incoming president of NOBLE, an organization representing law enforcement executives.
