Rene Marie Russo is an American actress and model born on February 17, 1954. She initially established her career as a fashion model in the 1970s, appearing on magazine covers such as Vogue and Cosmopolitan. Transitioning from modeling to acting, Russo made her film debut in the 1989 comedy Major League. Throughout the 1990s, she gained international recognition through roles in thrillers and action films including Lethal Weapon 3, In the Line of Fire, Outbreak, Get Shorty, Ransom, Lethal Weapon 4, and The Thomas Crown Affair. After starring in the family comedy Yours, Mine & Ours in 2005, she took a hiatus from acting for five years. Russo returned to the screen with the role of Frigga, the mother of the titular hero, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Thor in 2011, reprising this character in Thor The Dark World and Avengers Endgame. Her performance in the 2014 crime thriller Nightcrawler earned her the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress and a BAFTA nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
