Reginald Dwayne Betts: podcast appearances and interviews

Reginald Dwayne Betts is an American poet, legal scholar, educator, and prison reform advocate. He began reading and writing poetry during his incarceration after being convicted of an armed carjacking at age 16, an offense for which he was prosecuted as an adult and sentenced to nine years in prison. Following his release, Betts pursued higher education, earning an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Warren Wilson College and a Juris Doctor degree from Yale Law School. He has been involved in public service, serving on President Barack Obama's Coordinating Council of the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention. Betts founded Freedom Reads, an organization dedicated to providing incarcerated individuals with access to books. His work as a poet, legal scholar, and advocate has been recognized with awards including the MacArthur Fellowship awarded in September 2021.
