Phil Demmel, born on April 2, 1967, is an American musician known for his work as a lead guitarist in the heavy metal genre. He was a member of the band Machine Head from 2002 to 2018, during which time he became their longest-serving guitarist. In addition to his tenure with Machine Head, Demmel has collaborated with various other artists and bands. His performances have included work with Vio-lence, Torque, Metal Allegiance, BPMD, Kerry King, and Category 7. He has also served as a fill-in guitarist for several notable bands, including Slayer, Nonpoint, Overkill, Lamb of God, and Testament.
