Peter Boghossian: podcast appearances and interviews

Peter Gregory Boghossian is an American philosopher and college professor known for his work in atheism, critical thinking, pedagogy, scientific skepticism, and the Socratic method. He served as an assistant professor of philosophy at Portland State University for ten years. Boghossian is the author of A Manual for Creating Atheists and co-authored How to Have Impossible Conversations: A Very Practical Guide with James A. Lindsay. He is recognized for developing the concept of street epistemology, a set of conversational techniques aimed at examining strongly held beliefs, particularly religious beliefs, in a non-confrontational manner.

Boghossian gained media and academic attention through his involvement in the grievance studies affair, also known as Sokal Squared. This project involved submitting deliberately flawed papers to academic journals in fields like gender studies to test peer review processes. The initiative received mixed reactions, including praise, criticism, and ethical concerns. Following an investigation, Portland State University restricted his future research activities due to findings of research misconduct. In September 2021, Boghossian resigned from his position at Portland State University citing harassment and constraints on intellectual freedom.
