Pete Newell: podcast appearances and interviews

Peter Francis Newell was an American basketball coach and instructional coach who had a significant impact on college basketball and international competition. Over a span of 15 years, he coached at the University of San Francisco, Michigan State University, and the University of California, Berkeley, achieving an overall record of 234 wins and 123 losses. His coaching accomplishments include leading California to the NCAA title in 1959 and guiding the U.S. team to win a gold medal at the 1960 Summer Olympics. The Olympic team was later inducted as a unit into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2010. After concluding his coaching career, Newell operated a well-known instructional basketball camp that gained worldwide recognition. He also served as a consultant and scout for multiple NBA teams, contributing his expertise to professional basketball. In addition to his roles in basketball, Newell held a position as the former Director of the Army’s Rapid Equipping Force and was a co-founder and CEO of an organization involved in defense procurement.
