Patrick Bruce Metheny is an American jazz guitarist and composer born on August 12, 1954. He was the leader of the Pat Metheny Group from 1977 to 2010 and continues to work in a variety of small-combo, duet, and solo settings, along with other collaborative projects. Metheny's musical style blends elements of progressive and contemporary jazz, Latin jazz, and jazz fusion. His career has been recognized with three gold albums and twenty Grammy Awards. He is notably the only artist to have won Grammys in ten different categories.
