Oteil Burbridge, born on August 24, 1964, is an American multi-instrumentalist renowned for his proficiency on the bass guitar. He received training in jazz and classical music from an early age, which contributed to his versatile playing style. Burbridge gained prominence during the resurgence of the Allman Brothers Band from 1997 to 2014 and is also a founding member of Dead & Company. Additionally, he helped establish The Aquarium Rescue Unit and Tedeschi Trucks Band, the latter of which featured his brother Kofi Burbridge on keyboards and flute. His collaborations extend to working with notable musicians including Bruce Hampton, Trey Anastasio, Page McConnell, Bill Kreutzmann, and Derek Trucks. Recognized for his improvisational skills, Burbridge is noted for incorporating scat-singing into his bass solos.
