Oliver George Arthur Watkins, born on December 30, 1995, is an English professional footballer who plays as a forward for Premier League club Aston Villa and the England national team. He is regarded as a complete forward, recognized for his finishing ability and work ethic. Watkins developed through the Exeter City academy, where he made his breakthrough and received the EFL Young Player of the Year award. In 2017, he transferred to Brentford, where he enjoyed a successful three-year period. During the 2019–20 Championship season, he was joint top-scorer and was named Championship Player of the Year in 2020. In September 2020, Watkins transferred to Aston Villa. His performance at the club earned him the Premier League Playmaker of the Season award for 2023–24. In May 2025, he became Aston Villa's all-time top Premier League scorer, surpassing Gabriel Agbonlahor's record of 74 goals. Internationally, Watkins made his debut for England in a World Cup qualifying match against San Marino in March 2021, where he also scored his first international goal. He has since represented England in UEFA Euro 2024 and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
