Noah Strausser Speer Wyle, born on June 4, 1971, is an American actor, television director, producer, and writer. He is best known for his portrayal of Dr. John Carter in the NBC medical drama ER, which aired from 1994 to 2005. Wyle's performances in this role earned him six Actor Awards, a Golden Globe Award, and two Primetime Emmy Awards. His career includes notable work on TNT, where he played Steve Jobs in the television film Pirates of Silicon Valley, and Flynn Carsen in The Librarian franchise, spanning from 2004 to 2018. Additionally, he starred as Tom Mason in the science fiction series Falling Skies from 2011 to 2015 and portrayed Dr. Michael Robby Robinavitch in the HBO Max medical drama The Pitt beginning in 2025. Wyle was also nominated for a Critics' Choice Award for his performance in the CBS miniseries The Red Line in 2019 and was part of the ensemble cast of Leverage: Redemption on Prime Video from 2021 to 2025. Beyond his television career, he had supporting roles in films including A Few Good Men, Donnie Darko, and Enough.
