Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala: podcast appearances and interviews

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is a Nigerian economist and the current director-general of the World Trade Organization, a position she has held since March 2021. She is the first woman and first African to lead the organization. Throughout her career, she has served on various boards including Danone, Standard Chartered Bank, the Mandela Institute for Development Studies, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and the Rockefeller Foundation. She also has experience sitting on the Twitter Board of Directors, a role she stepped down from in February 2021 in connection with her WTO appointment. Okonjo-Iweala is a non-resident distinguished fellow at the Brookings Institution, associated with the Africa Growth Initiative within the Global Economy and Development Program. She is also a Commissioner Emeritus and Co-Chair of the Global Commission on the Economy and Climate. Her career at the World Bank spanned 25 years, during which she rose to serve as Managing Director for Operations from 2007 to 2011. She made history as the first Nigerian woman to serve two terms as Nigeria's Finance Minister, holding office under Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo from 2003 to 2006 and Goodluck Jonathan from 2011 to 2015. Additionally, she served as Nigeria's Minister for Foreign Affairs from June to August 2006. In recognition of her work, Euromoney named her Global Finance Minister of the Year in 2005.
