Naheed Nenshi: podcast appearances and interviews

Naheed Nenshi is a Canadian politician currently serving as the leader of the Alberta New Democratic Party and as the leader of the Official Opposition since 2025. He previously served as the mayor of Calgary for three terms from 2010 to 2021. Nenshi attended the University of Calgary, earning degrees in commerce, and obtained a Master of Public Policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Before entering politics, he worked as a management consultant, as well as an instructor in non-profit management at Mount Royal University. He also contributed to municipal affairs through a regular column in the Calgary Herald.

Nenshi was elected mayor of Calgary in 2010 with 39% of the vote, becoming the first Muslim to hold the mayoralty of a major Canadian city. He was re-elected in 2013 with 74% of the vote and again in 2017 with 51%. After serving three terms, he chose not to seek re-election in the 2021 municipal election. In March 2024, he announced his candidacy for the leadership of the Alberta NDP, winning on the first ballot with 86% support and 62,746 votes. In June 2025, he became a member of the Legislative Assembly representing Edmonton-Strathcona following a successful by-election, and he assumed the role of leader of the Opposition.
