Nicholas Thomas Wright, known as N. T. Wright or Tom Wright, is an English scholar and Anglican bishop. He has served as the bishop of Durham and was a Lord Spiritual in the UK Parliament from 2003 to 2010. Following this, he held the position of research professor of New Testament and Early Christianity at St Mary's College within the University of St Andrews in Scotland until 2019. Currently, he is a senior research fellow at Wycliffe Hall at the University of Oxford. Wright is an accomplished author with over seventy publications, primarily focusing on theology and Christian life, as well as the relationship between them. His work often involves a biblical re-evaluation of theological issues such as justification, women's ordination, and popular beliefs about life after death. He has publicly criticized the idea of a literal Rapture. Wright's scholarship is highly regarded, particularly for his
