Vera Mindy Chokalingam, known professionally as Mindy Kaling, is an American actress, comedian, screenwriter, and producer born on June 24, 1979. She has made significant contributions to television, earning a Tony Award and six Primetime Emmy Award nominations. In 2021, she received the National Medal of the Arts, and in 2023, she was honored with the Producers Guild of America's Norman Lear Achievement in Television Award. Kaling established her production company, Kaling International, in 2012. She first gained recognition for her role as Kelly Kapoor on the NBC sitcom The Office, which aired from 2005 to 2013, and she also served as a writer for the show, being credited with twenty-four episodes. Her work on The Office earned her a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series.
