Michael G. May, born in 1953, is an American business executive and a noted skier. He founded the Sendero Group in Davis, California, which employs many individuals who are blind or visually impaired. The company produced the first accessible GPS solution for blind persons, earning the Consumer Electronics Show's 'Innovation Honoree' title in 2004 and 2009. May's personal achievements include setting the record for downhill skiing by a person who is completely blind, with a racing speed of 65 miles per hour. He competed in the alpine skiing event at the 1984 Winter Paralympics and secured three bronze medals in downhill, giant slalom, and combination events. Despite losing her sight at the age of three due to a chemical explosion, May regained partial vision in 2000 following cornea transplants and a pioneering stem cell procedure performed by San Francisco ophthalmologist Daniel Goodman. In addition to his accomplishments in sports and business, May serves as the Athletic Director of Alpine School District and is the owner of Practice Planner Live Software. He is also affiliated with OSAIC Financial, contributing his expertise and leadership across multiple domains.
