Mike Mandel: podcast appearances and interviews

Mike Mandel, born in 1950, is an American conceptual artist and photographer best known for his innovative approach to photographic imagery. His work explores the meaning of photographs within popular culture by drawing from snapshots, advertising, news photographs, and archives from public and corporate sources. Mandel has been involved in various publications, most of which are self-published, including collaborations with Larry Sultan and Chantal Zakari. One of his most significant works is Evidence, a 1977 book of found photographs created with Sultan, which is regarded as highly influential in the field of photography. Additionally, he produced Baseball Photographer Trading Cards in 1975, a set featuring 134 photographers and curators posing as baseball players. Mandel has been recognized with a solo exhibition at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and his works are held in the permanent collections of major institutions.
