MF DOOM: podcast appearances and interviews

Daniel Dumile, known by his stage name MF DOOM or simply Doom, was a British and American rapper, songwriter, and record producer recognized for his intricate wordplay, metal mask, and 'supervillain' persona. Born in London and raised in Long Beach, New York, he began his musical career in 1988 as Zev Love X within the group KMD. Following his brother DJ Subroc's death and a subsequent hiatus, Dumile resurfaced in the late 1990s and adopted the MF DOOM persona, rarely making public appearances without his signature mask. His work in the early to mid-2000s established him as a highly influential figure in underground and alternative hip hop, with notable releases such as the album Operation: Doomsday and the critically acclaimed Madvillainy, a collaboration with Madlib regarded as a landmark album in its genre. Dumile also released music under pseudonyms like King Geedorah and Viktor Vaughn and collaborated with various artists including Danger Mouse, Jneiro Jarel, Bishop Nehru, and Czarface. Despite living most of his life in the United States, he never became a U.S. citizen and faced challenges with lawful permanent residency. After returning from an international tour in 2009, he was denied entry into the United States and compelled to return to England. Dumile passed away in 2020 in Leeds due to angioedema caused by a medication reaction. Posthumously, he has been recognized as one of hip hop’s most celebrated and enigmatic figures, leaving a lasting influence on the genre.
