Meg Gardiner, born May 15, 1957, is an American author known for her work in the thriller genre. She has published fifteen books, including the Evan Delaney series that began in 2002. In June 2008, she introduced a new series featuring forensic psychiatrist Jo Beckett, with her debut novel in the series. Her more recent works include three stand-alone novels titled Ransom River, The Shadow Tracer, and Phantom Instinct, published in 2012, 2013, and 2014 respectively. Gardiner has also authored four novels in a subsequent series, with titles such as UNSUB, Into the Black Nowhere, The Dark Corners of the Night, and Shadow Heart, published between 2017 and 2024.

Her first novel, China Lake, received the Edgar Award for Best Paperback Original in 2009. The first Jo Beckett novel, The Dirty Secrets Club, was awarded the Romantic Times Reviewers' Choice for Best Procedural Novel in 2009. Additionally, her ninth novel, The Nightmare Thief, earned the Audie Award for Thriller/Suspense Audiobook of the Year in 2012. As a prolific writer, Gardiner has established herself as a significant contributor to contemporary thriller literature.
