Medea Benjamin, born Susan Benjamin on September 10, 1952, is an American political activist known for her work as a peace activist. She is a co-founder of Code Pink, an organization dedicated to promoting peace and anti-war activism, which she established along with Jodie Evans and others. Benjamin also co-founded Global Exchange, a fair trade advocacy group, with her then husband Kevin Danaher. Her involvement in politics includes running as the Green Party nominee in the 2000 United States Senate election in California, where she finished in third place with 326,828 votes, representing 3.1 percent of the vote. Through her activism and organizational efforts, she has been a prominent figure in peace and social justice movements in the United States.
