Matthew Schmidt, born on April 30, 1971, is an American film editor known for his work on several Marvel Cinematic Universe films. His notable credits include Captain America The Winter Soldier, Captain America Civil War, Avengers Infinity War, Avengers Endgame, Black Widow, and Thor Love and Thunder. Schmidt initially collaborated with Jeffrey Ford as an assistant editor starting with the first Avengers film and began sharing editing credit with Ford from Captain America The Winter Soldier onward. Together, they worked on the massive project of editing Avengers Infinity War and Avengers Endgame, which involved more than 900 hours of footage and was completed over two years. These films are among the highest-grossing movies of all time. In addition to his editing achievements, Schmidt is recognized for his work on Black Widow, alongside Leigh Folsom Boyd, and Thor Love and Thunder, working with other editors including Peter S.
