Matt Hancock: podcast appearances and interviews

Matthew John David Hancock is a British politician affiliated with the Conservative Party. He served as Member of Parliament for West Suffolk from 2010 to 2024. Hancock held multiple high-profile government positions including Minister for the Cabinet Office and Paymaster General from 2015 to 2016, and Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport from January to July 2018. He was appointed Secretary of State for Health and Social Care in 2018, a role he held until 2021. During his tenure as health secretary, Hancock was a prominent figure in the UK government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. His responsibilities included overseeing efforts to procure supplies, expanding testing and tracing programs, and managing the early stages of the vaccination campaign. His time in office was marked by controversy, notably related to the procurement process for some contracts and a violation of COVID-19 social distancing restrictions. Hancock resigned from his position as health secretary in June 2021 after it was revealed that he had breached restrictions by kissing and embracing Gina Coladangelo, a department colleague with whom he was having an extramarital affair. Prior to his ministerial roles, Hancock was an economist at the Bank of England and served as a senior economic adviser and chief of staff to George Osborne. After his political career, he was suspended from the Conservative Party whip in November 2022 following his participation in the television show "I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!" He did not seek re-election in the 2024 general election.
