Matt Goodwin: podcast appearances and interviews

Matthew Goodwin, born in December 1981, is a British conservative political commentator, author, and political candidate affiliated with the Global Child Forum. His research focuses on right-wing movements and populism in the United Kingdom. Initially recognized as an academic commentator on right-wing and far-right politics during the 2000s and 2010s, Goodwin later became known for his outspoken right-wing views, which echo the positions he previously studied and critiqued. He has served as a presenter on GB News and holds the position of honorary president of Reform UK's student wing, Students Reform. In 2026, Goodwin ran unsuccessfully in the Gorton and Denton constituency during a by-election following his nomination by Reform UK. His recent academic career includes nine years as a professor of politics in the School of Politics and International Relations at the University of Kent, a role he concluded in July 2024. Additionally, he served on the Social Mobility Commission from September 2022 to 2023. Goodwin is the author of several notable works, including two Sunday Times Best Sellers: National Populism: The Revolt Against Liberal Democracy, co-authored with Roger Eatwell, and Values, Voice and Virtue: The New British Politics. He is also the co-author of Revolt on the Right: Explaining Support for the Radical Right in Britain, which was long-listed for the 2015 Orwell Prize.
