Mark Whitaker, born September 7, 1957, is an American author, journalist, and media executive currently serving as Vice President of Culture and Care at Coca-Cola Consolidated. He has held prominent roles in the media industry, including editor of Newsweek from 1998 to 2006, making him the first African-American to lead a national news magazine. Additionally, Whitaker has served as senior vice president and Washington bureau chief for NBC News and as executive vice president and managing editor of CNN Worldwide from 2011 to 2013.
