Mark Howard Stephens, born on 7 April 1957, is an English solicitor recognized for his work in media law, intellectual property, freedom of expression, and human rights. He gained public attention as the legal representative of James Hewitt during reports concerning Hewitt's alleged relationship with Diana, Princess of Wales. In 2010, Stephens served as legal counsel for Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, in extradition proceedings to Sweden. He is also the founder of the law firm Howard Kennedy LLP, which has serviced clients within media and entertainment law. Currently, he holds the position of Co-Chair at the IBA Human Rights Institute, an organization affiliated with the International Bar Association that focuses on advancing human rights through legal expertise.
