Mark D. Myers is an American geologist who currently serves as a commissioner for the U.S. Arctic Research Commission. He previously served as the 14th director of the U.S. Geological Survey, having been nominated by President George W. Bush and confirmed by the U.S. Senate. Myers was sworn in as USGS director in September 2006, succeeding Charles G. Groat, and resigned in January 2009 in accordance with customary procedures during a presidential transition.
