Mark Harrington: podcast appearances and interviews

Mark Harrington, born in 1959 or 1960, is an HIV/AIDS researcher and activist who has made significant contributions to the fight against HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis. He is the co-founder and policy director of the Treatment Action Group (TAG), an organization dedicated to advancing research and access to treatment. After graduating from Harvard University in 1983, Harrington moved to New York City where he became involved with the AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power (ACT UP), engaging with its Treatment and Data Committee and working to foster relationships with government agencies involved in AIDS research. Following disagreements over advocacy strategies, Harrington and other ACT UP members left the organization to establish TAG, with the goal of influencing research policies and accelerating the development of antiretroviral therapies for HIV. Throughout his career, Harrington has worked closely with key agencies such as the National Institutes of Health and the Food and Drug Administration to promote research and treatment options. In addition to his advocacy, he has established himself as a scientist and researcher dedicated to combating HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa.
