Mark Christopher Field, born on October 6, 1964, is a British politician affiliated with the Conservative Party. He served as the Member of Parliament for Cities of London and Westminster from 2001 to 2019. During his parliamentary tenure, he also held the position of Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office from 2017 until 2019. His political career includes notable public and personal developments, such as an extra-marital affair with Liz Truss between 2004 and 2005, which led to his divorce from Michele Acton. This affair also resulted in an attempt by members of Liz Truss's constituency association to prevent her from standing as a parliamentary candidate in the 2010 general election. Field was known for his support of the United Kingdom remaining in the European Union during the Brexit referendum, and for his endorsement of Jeremy Hunt in the 2019 Conservative leadership race. He resigned from his ministerial post following the start of Boris Johnson's premiership and subsequently decided not to seek re-election, standing down from the House of Commons at the 2019 general election.
