Mariel Hemingway, born on November 22, 1961, is an American actress, author, and mental health activist. She began her film career at age 14, earning a Golden Globe Award nomination for her role in Lipstick in 1976. Her performance in Woody Allen's Manhattan in 1979 garnered her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Hemingway's filmography includes leading roles in films such as Personal Best, Star 80, The Mean Season, and Creator during the early 1980s. She also received a Golden Globe nomination for her portrayal of Sydney Guilford in the television series Civil Wars, which aired from 1991 to 1993. As her acting career slowed in the late 1990s, Hemingway shifted her focus to mental health advocacy.
