MacKenzie Scott, born April 7, 1970, is an American novelist, philanthropist, and early contributor to Amazon. She was married to Jeff Bezos, co-founder of Amazon, from 1993 to 2019. Scott has a notable literary background, winning an American Book Award in 2006 for her debut novel, The Testing of Luther Albright, and publishing a second novel titled Traps in 2013. She has served as the executive director of Bystander Revolution, an anti-bullying organization she founded in 2014. With a net worth of approximately 40 billion US dollars as of December 2025, she owns a 1.3 percent stake in Amazon, making her one of the wealthiest women in the United States and among the most affluent individuals worldwide. Scott is recognized for her philanthropic efforts, having committed to giving at least half of her wealth to charitable causes through the Giving Pledge.
