Linda Sarsour: podcast appearances and interviews

Linda Sarsour, born in 1980, is an American political activist of Palestinian descent. She has been a prominent figure in various civil rights movements and campaigns. Sarsour was co-chair of the 2017 Women’s March, the 2017 Day Without a Woman, and the 2019 Women’s March. She previously served as the executive director of the Arab American Association of New York. Her activism first gained significant attention through her protests against police surveillance of American Muslims, expanding later to include issues such as police brutality, feminism, immigration policy, and mass incarceration. She has organized demonstrations for Black Lives Matter and was the lead plaintiff in a legal challenge to the Trump travel ban. Sarsour's efforts and leadership in the Women’s March in 2017 earned her recognition in Time magazine’s list of the “100 Most Influential People.” Her advocacy has garnered praise from liberals and progressives but has also faced criticism from some conservatives and Jewish organizations, particularly concerning her stance on the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. She supports Palestinians in the Israeli-occupied territories and has endorsed the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions campaign against Israel. In 2019, she stepped down from her leadership role in the Women’s March organization along with other co-chairs amid controversy over the group’s handling of allegations related to antisemitism.
