Les Stroud is a Canadian survival expert, filmmaker, and musician born on October 20, 1961. He is best known for creating, writing, producing, directing, filming, and hosting the television series Survivorman. After an initial career behind the scenes in the music industry, Stroud transitioned to becoming a full-time wilderness guide, survival instructor, and musician based in Huntsville, Ontario. His expertise in survival skills has been featured in programming for networks including The Outdoor Life Network, The Discovery Channel, The Science Channel, and YTV. Stroud's television programs have imparted survival skills that have been credited with helping viewers survive challenging wilderness situations. In addition to his entertainment and instructional work, he was named Chief Scout by Scouts Canada on November 22, 2021.
