Leon Panetta: podcast appearances and interviews

Leon Edward Panetta is an American retired politician and government official known for his service under several Democratic administrations. He served as Secretary of Defense from 2011 to 2013, appointed by President Barack Obama, and prior to that, as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency from 2009 to 2011. During his tenure as CIA director, he oversaw the operation that resulted in the death of Osama bin Laden. Panetta also served as White House Chief of Staff from 1994 to 1997 and as Director of the Office of Management and Budget from 1993 to 1994 under President Bill Clinton. He was a member of the United States House of Representatives from California from 1977 to 1993. In 1997, Panetta cofounded the Panetta Institute for Public Policy and has since served as its chairman. The institute, located at California State University, Monterey Bay, focuses on motivating and preparing individuals for public service and promoting civic engagement. Beyond his government service, Panetta holds positions on various boards and commissions and is active in writing and lecturing on public policy issues. He has also contributed to academia, serving as a distinguished scholar and professor of public policy. His son, Jimmy Panetta, has held the former seat in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2017.
