Kim Petras: podcast appearances and interviews

Kim Petras is a German singer and songwriter based in Los Angeles. She first gained international attention for transitioning as a teenager and subsequently released her debut EP, One Piece of Tape, in 2011. Petras has written songs for artists such as Fergie, JoJo, Skylar Stecker, and Twice. Her musical career includes notable singles like I Don't Want It at All and Heart to Break, the latter reaching number 52 on Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart. She released her second EP, Turn Off the Light, Vol. 1, in 2018, followed by mixtapes Clarity and Turn Off the Light in 2019, and a single titled How It's Done, which appeared on the Charlie's Angels soundtrack. A collaboration with Kygo resulted in Broken Glass, charting at number 13 on Billboard's Dance/Electronic Songs chart in 2020. Petras signed with Dr. Luke's Amigo Records in 2021, an imprint of Republic Records, and made history as the first transgender artist to perform at major events such as the MTV Video Music Awards, MTV Europe Music Awards, and Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Her 2022 EP, Slut Pop, included the track Throat Goat, which gained popularity after a sign language interpreter provided an explicit translation at Sydney WorldPride. She also featured on the chart-topping song Unholy by Sam Smith, which won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Her debut studio album, Feed the Beast, was released in 2023, and she followed with albums Problématique and Detour. Petras has also released singles like Unlock It and Reminds Me, and her work has been featured in films, series, and documentaries. After leaving Republic Records prior to the release of Detour, she continues to develop her musical career.
