Kenneth Bruce Gorelick, known professionally as Kenny G, is an American smooth jazz saxophonist, composer, and record producer born in Seattle, Washington. He began playing the saxophone at age ten, inspired by a performance on The Ed Sullivan Show, and during high school, he took private lessons and played in the school jazz band. His professional career started at age 17 with Barry White's The Love Unlimited Orchestra. He later played with the Seattle funk band Cold, Bold & Together before joining the Jeff Lorber Fusion in 1980. Kenny G's solo career gained momentum after signing with Arista Records in 1982, with his debut album, Kenny G, released that year.
