Ken Burns: podcast appearances and interviews

Kenneth Lauren Burns, born on July 29, 1953, is an American documentary filmmaker recognized for his work focusing on United States history and culture. His extensive career includes the creation of numerous acclaimed documentary series such as The Civil War, Baseball, Jazz, The War, The National Parks: America's Best Idea, Prohibition, The Roosevelts, The Vietnam War, Country Music, and The American Revolution. Burns has collaborated with organizations such as WETA-TV and the National Endowment for the Humanities, and his work is primarily distributed by PBS. In addition to directing these series, he co-directed The Central Park Five with his daughter Sarah Burns and has been involved in producing other notable documentaries including The West, Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies, and The Gene: An Intimate History. Throughout his career, Burns's documentaries have received significant recognition, earning two Academy Award nominations for Brooklyn Bridge and The Statue of Liberty, as well as multiple Emmy Awards.
