Kathy Hochul: podcast appearances and interviews

Kathleen Mary Hochul is an American politician and lawyer who has served as the 57th governor of New York since 2021. A member of the Democratic Party, she is the first woman to hold this position in the state. Hochul was born in Buffalo, New York, and graduated from Syracuse University in 1980. She earned a Juris Doctor from the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law in 1984. Her early career included serving on the Hamburg Town Board and as deputy Erie County clerk. In 2007, she was appointed Erie County clerk and was subsequently elected to a full term and reelected in 2010. In May 2011, Hochul won a special election for New York's 26th congressional district, becoming the first Democrat in 40 years to represent the district. She served as a U.S. representative from 2011 to 2013 but was narrowly defeated for reelection in 2012 following redistricting. In 2014, Governor Andrew Cuomo selected Hochul as his running mate, and she was inaugurated as lieutenant governor after winning the election. She was reelected alongside Cuomo in 2018. Hochul assumed the governorship on August 24, 2021, following Cuomo's resignation amid allegations of sexual harassment. She secured a full term in the 2022 election, facing Republican U.S. Representative Lee Zeldin in what was one of the narrowest New York gubernatorial elections since 1994.
