John Wells: podcast appearances and interviews

John Marcum Wells, born on May 28, 1956, is an American producer, writer, and director renowned for his work in television. He has served as showrunner and executive producer for numerous television series including ER, Third Watch, The West Wing, Southland, Shameless, Animal Kingdom, The Pitt, and American Woman. Wells is also known for his work on the miniseries Maid and the forthcoming 2024 series Rescue: HI-Surf. He developed the series Shameless, which aired for 11 seasons from 2011 to 2021 on Showtime. His production company, John Wells Productions, is based at Warner Bros. studios in Burbank, California. In addition to his creative work, Wells has held leadership roles within industry organizations; he served as president of the Writers Guild of America, West during two terms from 1999 to 2001 and again from 2009 to 2011. Currently, he is a member of the board of governors of the Motion Picture & Television Fund. Wells's contributions to television and industry leadership position him as a prominent figure in American television production.
