John Phillip Stamos is an American actor and musician born on August 19, 1963. He first gained recognition for his contract role as Blackie Parrish on the ABC television soap opera General Hospital, a performance that earned him a nomination for the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series at the 10th Daytime Emmy Awards in 1983. Stamos is best known for his work in television, particularly for his starring role as Jesse Katsopolis on the ABC sitcom Full House. Since the conclusion of the show in 1995, he has appeared in numerous television films and series. From 2005 to 2009, he starred as Dr. Tony Gates on the NBC medical drama ER. In addition to his television work, Stamos has appeared on Broadway in productions including How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and Cabaret. He played Albert Peterson in the Broadway revival of Bye Bye Birdie from October 2009 to January 2010 and portrayed Senator Joseph Cantwell in a revival of Gore Vidal's The Best Man from July to September 2012. Stamos was the lead in the Fox sitcom Grandfathered from September 2015 to 2016 and served as an executive producer for the Netflix series Fuller House, in which he reprised his role as Jesse Katsopolis.
