John O’Shea: podcast appearances and interviews

John O’Shea is an Irish football coach and former player, known for his versatility in defensive and midfield positions. Born in Waterford and raised in Ferrybank, he began his professional career after joining Manchester United at age 17. During his time with the club, he made 393 appearances across 12 seasons, winning five Premier League titles, one FA Cup, two Football League Cups, four FA Community Shields, the FIFA Club World Cup, and the UEFA Champions League. O’Shea spent loan spells at AFC Bournemouth and Royal Antwerp before establishing himself in the first team. In 2011, he transferred to Sunderland, where he made 256 appearances and scored four goals. Later, he signed with Reading in 2018, retiring from professional play in 2019. Following his retirement, he joined Reading's coaching staff and subsequently coached at Stoke City and Birmingham City. Internationally, O’Shea represented the Republic of Ireland from his debut in 2001 against Croatia, earning 118 caps and scoring three goals. His career with Ireland included participation in UEFA Euro 2012 and UEFA Euro 2016, and he was involved in a notable play-off for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. O’Shea has also served as an assistant manager for the Irish national team and as interim manager in 2024, contributing his extensive experience to coaching roles.
