John Connolly: podcast appearances and interviews

John Joseph Connolly Jr. is known for his role as a former Federal Bureau of Investigation agent involved in significant legal and criminal proceedings. Born on August 1, 1940, he was previously assigned as the handler for Boston mobsters James "Whitey" Bulger and Steve Flemmi, and was implicated in providing protection to these individuals by supplying them with information about investigations and falsifying FBI reports. His actions led to criminal charges, including racketeering, obstruction of justice, and murder, resulting in convictions and extensive prison sentences. Connolly was sentenced to ten years in federal prison after his conviction in 2002, and later received a forty-year sentence on state charges of second-degree murder in Florida in 2008. He was released from federal custody in June 2011 and continued serving his sentence for the state conviction in Florida. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Connolly sought to serve the remainder of his sentence under home confinement, citing health concerns and the availability of compassionate release under federal law. After initial denials, he was ultimately granted a medical release on February 17, 2021. Currently, he is affiliated with the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy as the chief technology and operations officer, overseeing aspects of organizational technology and operations.
