John Burns: podcast appearances and interviews

John Elliot Burns was an English trade unionist and politician born on 20 October 1858 and who passed away on 24 January 1943. Throughout his career, he was closely associated with London politics and the Battersea area. Burns was known for his socialist beliefs and served as a Liberal Member of Parliament and Minister. He was also recognized for his opposition to alcohol and his enthusiasm for sports. When the Liberal cabinet decided to go to war on 2 August 1914, Burns resigned from his position and thereafter did not participate further in politics. After retiring from political life, he developed an expertise in London history, articulating the phrase 'The Thames is liquid history' to describe the river's historical significance. Currently, he is a candidate for City Council in Circle Pines and is affiliated with John Burns Research and Consulting.
