John Bolton: podcast appearances and interviews

John Robert Bolton, born November 20, 1948, is an American attorney, diplomat, and political commentator. He has served in various government roles, including as the 25th United States ambassador to the United Nations from 2005 to 2006 and as the 26th United States national security advisor from 2018 to 2019. Bolton also held positions within the State Department, such as assistant secretary of state for international organization affairs from 1989 to 1993 and under secretary of state for arms control and international security affairs from 2001 to 2005. Throughout his career, he was an advocate of the Iraq War and a Director of the Project for the New American Century, which supported such military action. His appointment as ambassador to the UN was a recess appointment by President George W. Bush, and he stepped down at the end of his appointment due to the likelihood of not securing Senate confirmation. Bolton later served as National Security Advisor under President Donald Trump, during which time he called for the termination of the Iran nuclear deal. He authored the book The Room Where It Happened about his tenure in the Trump administration. Known for his strong stance on foreign policy, Bolton is regarded as a foreign policy hawk and a supporter of military intervention and regime change in multiple countries. He has also been affiliated with the American Enterprise Institute and acted as a commentator for Fox News Channel. Bolton was a foreign policy adviser to Mitt Romney's 2012 presidential campaign and has faced legal charges related to the unlawful transmission and retention of national defense information. In 2022, an Iranian individual was charged with attempting to hire others to assassinate him.
