John August: podcast appearances and interviews

John August, born on August 4, 1970, is an American screenwriter, director, producer, and novelist. He has contributed to a variety of films, including Go, Charlie's Angels, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, Big Fish, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Corpse Bride, Frankenweenie, and the Disney live-action adaptation of Aladdin. In addition to his work in film, August has authored several novels such as Arlo Finch in the Valley of Fire, Arlo Finch in the Lake of the Moon, and Arlo Finch in the Kingdom of Shadows. He is known for hosting the screenwriting podcast Scriptnotes with Craig Mazin and maintains a screenwriting blog. Through his company, Quote-Unquote Apps, he develops software targeted at screenwriters. August is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, voting in the Writers branch. His industry and community contributions have been recognized with the WGAw's Valentine Davies Award in 2016. Furthermore, he has received nominations for a BAFTA and a Grammy.
