Joe Mazzulla: podcast appearances and interviews

Joseph Arthur Mazzulla was born on June 30, 1988. He is an American professional basketball coach and the head coach for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association. Mazzulla played college basketball as a point guard for the West Virginia Mountaineers. After going undrafted in the 2011 NBA draft, he pursued a coaching career at the college level. He served as an assistant coach at Glenville State and Fairmont State for three seasons each before joining the Maine Red Claws as an assistant coach in 2016. In 2017, he returned to Fairmont State as the head coach of its basketball program. Mazzulla joined the Boston Celtics as an assistant coach in 2019. In September 2022, he was named the interim head coach of the Celtics following the suspension of head coach Ime Udoka for the season. Mazzulla was appointed the full-time head coach in February 2023 after leading the team to a league-best 42–17 record at the NBA All-Star break. During his second season, he guided the Celtics to a league-best 64 wins and an NBA Championship. He holds the highest winning percentage of any NBA coach with over 200 games coached and is the youngest head coach to win an NBA Finals since Bill Russell in 1969. Mazzulla has gained recognition in NBA media for his eccentric attitudes toward the game, his players, and his outcomes, leading to the nickname Psycho Joe.
