Jerome Leonard Bruckheimer is an American film and television producer born on September 21, 1943. He has been active across various genres including action, drama, comedy, fantasy, horror, and science fiction. Bruckheimer began his career in advertising after college before transitioning into film production in the 1970s. He is known for his collaborations with fellow producer Don Simpson during the 1980s and 1990s until Simpson's death in 1996. Throughout his career, Bruckheimer has produced a wide array of notable films such as Flashdance, Days of Thunder, The Rock, Crimson Tide, Dangerous Minds, Con Air, Armageddon, Enemy of the State, Pearl Harbor, Black Hawk Down, and franchises including Beverly Hills Cop, Top Gun, Bad Boys, Pirates of the Caribbean, and National Treasure. His production company has worked with major studios like Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, and Disney, and his television projects have been co-produced with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Studios. Bruckheimer earned recognition in 2003 when Variety honored him as the first producer to have two top-grossing films in a single weekend, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and Bad Boys II. In the film industry, his work on Top Gun: Maverick in 2023 garnered his first Academy Award nomination for Best Picture, with another nomination for F1 expected in 2025. His television credits include acclaimed series such as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, CSI: Cyber, Without a Trace, Cold Case, Lucifer, and The Amazing Race, winning ten Primetime Emmy Awards for the latter.
