Jerrod Carmichael: podcast appearances and interviews

Rothaniel Jerrod Carmichael, born on April 6, 1987, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, is an American comedian, actor, writer, and filmmaker. He began his career in the early 2010s within the comedy club scene in Los Angeles. Carmichael has released four stand-up comedy specials on HBO including Love at the Store in 2014, 8 in 2017, Rothaniel in 2022, and Don't Be Gay in 2025. The special Rothaniel earned him the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special. He co-created, co-wrote, produced, and starred in the semi-autobiographical NBC sitcom The Carmichael Show, which aired from 2015 to 2017. In addition to his stand-up work, Carmichael made his feature film directorial debut with On the Count of Three in 2021, a dark comedy in which he also starred and produced. His television appearances include guest hosting Saturday Night Live, for which he was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series in 2022. Carmichael hosted the 80th Golden Globe Awards in 2023 and appeared in the Academy Award-winning film Poor Things. In 2024, he was the subject of the HBO documentary series Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show, which premiered at South by Southwest.
