Jermaine LaJuane Jacksun, also known as Muhammad Abdul-Aziz Sharif, is an American musician and member of the Jackson family. He was part of the Jackson 5 from 1964 to 1975, serving as the second vocalist after his brother Michael and playing bass guitar. During his tenure with the group, he contributed to several hit songs including ''I'll Be There'' and ''I Want You Back.'' When the group left Motown Records in 1976 and became the Jacksons, Jermaine chose to remain with Motown, where he was signed during his marriage to Hazel Gordy, daughter of Motown founder Berry Gordy. His departure led to his replacement by his youngest brother, Randy, in the Jacksons. Beyond his work with the group, Jermaine pursued a solo career achieving some top-30 hits and collaborated with notable artists such as Whitney Houston, with whom he recorded duets on her debut album in 1985. He also worked as a producer for the band Switch. After several years outside the Jacksons, Jermaine rejoined the group in 1983 and remained involved through various breakups and reunions until 2020. His musical career has spanned several decades, marked by his contributions as a vocalist, bassist, and producer.
